I am by no means a James Bond aficionado, but if you’d of told kid-me that I’d like the Mission Impossible movie series more than 007’s alcohol infused, STD covered adventures, I’d of sad you were nuts, and I’d have been wrong. Rogue Nation is, for me, the final iteration it takes for me to realize that Ethan Hunt is just as credible as any other legendary action character and, in a lot of ways, more so.
Oh, and I liked the movie, too. Read the rest of this entry
Skyfall is the latest flick in the James Bond series, which currently stares Daniel Craig. I found this to be the best of the Craig lot (who is quickly made it into the running as my favorite Bond… but I’ll take any old Bond over Roger Moore), though I should say I’m not the biggest James Bond fan. I tend to go see these movies for the killer stunts and explosions, but this one came up a little lame on the stunts, but boy, does shit blow up in this movie – and this movie is really about the story and how James Bond is getting old. Judi Dench has a lot of screen time in this flick and Javier Bardem is awesome as the bad guy. This flick doesn’t really have the typical Bond girl (meaning that there is a beautiful woman who has sex with James Bond, she’s just not in it that much), which is sad but OK. The “Skyfall” song is by Adele and it’s forgettable, just like most Bond songs.
Still, if you’re looking for an action movie with substance, I’d check out Skyfall. I give it an 8 out of 10.
