Its main star, Chris Hemsworth, returned to the role of the cool mercenary Tyler Rake, who has to complete a new, extremely difficult task. In the last film, Tyler Rake, well-torn by enemy bullets and knives, fell from a bridge into the river, but, as it turns out, he did not die. He was taken to the hospital, where the mercenary lay in a coma, and when he woke up, he received a cozy cabin as a gift, located in the middle of snowy Austrian forests and mountains. This is what your pension looks like, man.

However, the retiree was not destined to meditate on winter fishing and spend evenings watching sports and ballroom dances while drinking beer. When a serious stranger appears on the doorstep of his house and offers a new job, the main character does not even think about whether it is worth taking it. The thing is that you will have to save the sister of the ex-wife and her children, who are literally in the custody of one Georgian criminal authority.

Review of the film

To get back in shape, in the best traditions of Rocky Balboa, Tyler resorts to physical education in the cold: push-ups, pull-ups, chopping wood, etc. Having prepared well, Rake enlists the support of his colleagues and goes to a gloomy Georgian prison to finally free the suffering.

The first part, released on Netflix three years ago, made a lot of noise and received many complimentary comparisons to “John Wick”.

Today, when both projects are playing in the higher league of the action genre, “Evacuation” looks more down-to-earth, but this is its strength. The thing is that Tyler Rake is very far from the “high style” of elegant suits and dueling pistols (he even happily gave his Valentino shirt to his dog). This is a guy who prefers sports jackets and doesn’t shy away from using farm equipment as a weapon.

Review of the film

According to established Hollywood tradition, the sequel should offer almost everything the same as the original, but in greater quantities. Receive and sign.

The first film particularly flaunted an 11-and-a-half-minute action sequence that felt like one long take, devoid of editing clips. The second part is ready to give the viewer 21 minutes of non-stop action, where there will be a place for beautifully staged fights, adrenaline chases, and spectacular shootouts. It’s very cool and exciting, so it’s impossible to take your eyes off the screen.

In terms of its content, the film is a painfully simple plot devoid of expressive drama. But in the case of “Evacuation” it is even good.

The viewer should never be distracted by some secondary things like the mental experiences of the characters. Rake gets a little more detail about his tragic past, but the line is so dashed and dotted that you barely notice it.

At the same time, the screenwriters had almost no opportunity to spoil the standard action movie with some dubious plot moves. Yes, some overly sketchy moments here really sting the eye, but they are not able to spoil the overall impression of what you saw.

Review of the film

Formally, the narrative can be divided into three acts: the bloody events in Georgia, the battle scenes in Vienna, and the final battle, no matter where.

Moreover, and this is again about schematicity, the action is rapidly transferred from the poor Georgian bunkhouses to the luxurious apartments of the Viennese skyscraper DC Tower 1 (John McClain, you are not alone in your suffering). How the villain was able to attract all his resources in a foreign country, and even so quickly, is decidedly unclear.

Along with the change of locations, the manner of filming action scenes also changes. The camera refuses to constantly circle around the characters and jerks noticeably only during their running, and the creators use a more traditional dynamic montage for an action movie.

However, this does not prevent you from enjoying the actual combat elements, the staging of which deserves the highest praise.

Review of the film

The final match, made in the style of old-school action games, when the opposing sides “kill the arrow” and find out the relationship without extra witnesses in some deserted room, is somewhat disappointing. Although even here the authors manage to wittily wink at one Marvel thunderbolt and warn that in the most difficult moments the hammer is not always able to save.

Against the background of some genre samples of recent times, “Evacuation 2” looks like a breath of fresh air. And even if the story here received a solid portion of schematics, and the realism of certain battle scenes causes healthy skepticism, this action movie is able to give fans of the genre exactly what is required of it. Mr. Idris Elba, quickly send the fighter to the next task!

Pros: excellent staging and filming of battle scenes, dynamic pace of the story, good selection of actors, an exciting scene without gluing 21 minutes long, the creators manage to make the audience really feel for the characters, more extensive participation of the heroine Golshifteh Farakhani compared to the previous film Cons : sketchiness of the plot, inflections regarding the realism of some action scenes (although not critical), rather modest by the standards of the series, the final battle Conclusion:

“Evacuation 2” is a cool action movie that tries not to give in to the caricatured weirdness that seems to have completely taken over the “John Wick” universe. The tape does not reinvent the genre, but perfectly uses its strongest points to become its top representative
