Why I’m NOT Seeing #JusticeLeague

Here’s the new episode of Quick Reviews, a quick essay on why I decided not to see Justice League in the theater. Warner Bros doesn’t want you to see it – they blocked it from YouTube – it’s the only episode that’s ever been blocked! First, they dropped a copyright claim, which, while ridiculous (reviews and essays are clearly covered by Fair Use and the video is less than six minutes long and doesn’t center around any one of their films, so it can’t be a footage issue) at least makes sense because YouTube policy allows them to collect ad revenue from said video (which is also dumb because I just don’t have much of an audience), but then they blocked the video entirely – probably because of my negative review of the DCEU.

Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday movie review (Quick Reviews)

Jason Voorhees is back in Jason goes to Hell: The Final Friday in a movie that contains no scenes that take place in hell… and yet, the movie works.  It’s not really worthy of mention in the annals of horror movies nor is it even the best Friday the 13th movie, but it’s serviceable.  Check out the video and you’ll see what I mean.

Kong: Skull Island movie review (QR on Location in Salt Lake City)

I tried something different with this episode of Quick Reviews and shot this episode on my phone while I was in Salt Lake City, Utah.  It was a fun experiment that needs some tweaks (especially in the sound department), but I like the general idea.

Kong: Skull Island exceeded my expectations, but that doesn’t mean it’s great or anything.  Check out the video for my review and don’t forget to subscribe to the NEW YouTube channel!

Adobe Premiere Sequence Video Glitch Solved

While editing my movie Will Reading (also checkout the Official Site), I’ve come across the weirdest glitch.  Distortion in the form of lines would appear and last for a frame or two.  They usually occurred near edits, but not always.  Observe:

old-sequence

Sometimes they would appear as lines of color (as seen above) and sometimes they would appear as bits of video from other shots – sometimes from clips that aren’t even in the same sequence!  It’s very strange and I could find no help online.   (Of course, it’s hard to find help online when you don’t know what to search for and now I realize I should have posted screen grabs on forums and asked for help rather than searching.)

So, after some thought, I came up with three different possible solutions: Read the rest of this entry
