Skypemare short film review

2014 was the year of virtual horror:  the big release had Unfriended and the short film had Skypemare.  There are shorts and then there’s short films worth watching, and this is the latter.  Read the rest of this entry

Horror Hotel AKA City Of The Dead movie review

The best part about these gas station scenes is that they don’t take place in the titular city, but merely close to it. This tiny village is so evil that its misty atmosphere makes it all the way down the road.

City of the Dead (or if you prefer the American release name, Horror Hotel) may well be the smokiest movie ever made, but it’s also a decent little movie.  The comparisons to Psycho are not entirely unfounded, but to be fair, this is no Hitchcock movieRead the rest of this entry

a quick look at Freddy’s Nightmares: A Nightmare on Elm Street: The Series

This… is just… I dunno.

I’m no expert on Freddy’s Nightmares: A Nightmare on Elm Street: The Series, but this series is the biggest shitbiscuit I’ve ever seenRead the rest of this entry

a look at the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies first official trailer

“She is tolerable…”

“It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife… who can murder zombies.”

Pride and Prejudice is a big deal in my house and I must tell you, this trailer was met with pure disdain under our roof.  Or, “I am quite put out!”  Read the rest of this entry

The Last Halloween short film is ghoulish fun

I stumbled upon The Last Halloween in as random YouTube fashion as can be, and I’m not sorry I did.  Read the rest of this entry

Robot Chicken sure knows how to do Peanuts horror skits

“Arise, arise, great pumpkin!”

If you’re excited for The Peanuts Movie, I tend to think you’re the only one. Nevertheless, Robot Chicken knows how to serve up the Halloween hijinks.  Read the rest of this entry

The Crush movie review

“Well, look at the time. I’m afraid I’m going to have to be moving along. To another place to live. In… Yemen. I’m going to Yemen. Like Chandler in Friends.  I’ll still be there for you, though – but from Yemen.”

The Crush is one of those horror/suspense comedies where you yell at the protagonist, blissfully unaware that Cary Elwes is portraying a fictional character that can’t hear your through time and space.  And I love every minute of it. Read the rest of this entry

Leprechaun In the Hood movie review

“A friend with weed is a friend indeed, but a friend with gold is better, I’m told.”

Neither before nor since has an opportunity like  Leprechaun In the Hood been so squandered.  A magic flute, Ice-T and Warwick Davis as the Leprechaun should be the realization of an alchemist’s dream, but instead, it’s just a bunch of oregano sprayed with Raid.   Read the rest of this entry

Back to the Future Part II day!

The DeLorean makes an appearance in Times Square. Photo by Dr. MyFiancee.

As you probably know, Back to the Future Part II continues the adventures of  Doc and Marty as they travel from 1985 to October 21, 2015… which is TODAY!  Sure, it doesn’t look like the Cubs are going to win the World Series and we still don’t have flying cars or hoverboards, but we are super close to self driving cars and there are like 5 different electric skateboards to choose from, so not too shabby!  And, no Jaws sequel, that’s great, right?

BTTF PII is my favorite of the franchise (probably because it’s so much like an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation and also because it has less incest than the first one) and if you’ve never seen the trilogy, today’s a great time to check it out.

Remember, nobody’s future has been written yet – so make it a good one!

Most Popular Halloween Costumes 1990-2015

A plastic smock and a mask held on by rubber bands were the only Halloween costumes you could buy in the 80s.

I can’t believe I’ve never looked into this before, but better late than never.  Here are the most popular Halloween costumes spanning from 1990 to 2015.  How can the internet already know what the most popular costume of this year is already?  The internet just knows, man – it just knows.  Read the rest of this entry

Leprechaun 4: In Space movie review

Leprechaun 4: In Space is just as awesome and ridiculous as it sounds.  It may not be the best of the franchise, but it’s the ballsiest Leprechaun movie up to this point.  Read the rest of this entry
