Great Movie Moments – Dogma: But you didn’t say “God bless you” when I sneezed!

“This scene is so great. I cannot even mention how great it is aloud.”

Sometimes, a movie has a scene in it that transcends the movie itself.  Dogma has several of those scenes, but here’s my favorite. “But you didn’t say ‘God bless you’ when I sneezed!” is one of these Great Movie Moments

I love this scene so much; obviously, the dialogue is a big draw, but I even like the blocking.  There is not a thing wrong with this sequence; everything is so perfectly timed and executed.  Ben Affleck’s monologue outlining the sinners’ many trespasses is done to meticulous T with quick asides (“Very compassionate, Mr. Brace!”) while Matt Damon’s more sinister delivery (“All lines are currently down.”)  is a welcomed change.  I even love Damon’s little tag at the end:  “You’re so lucky!”  That is awesome.

This is still my favorite Kevin Smith movie.  You’ve got to see it – it’s amazing.  It has everything (comedy, drama, action…) short of a musical number.
