Playing with the StarWars.com Soundboard

StarWars.com has set up an official Soundboard, which is a great idea. People love Star Wars, people love soundboards, so kaboom – it’s like peanut butter and jelly… or a ration bar and some blue milk, I guess. Anyway, let’s play!

Because it’s Star Wars, they took it to the next level and didn’t give us just a soundboard, but instead, a decent little audio mixer to goof around with. If you press demo, you’ll get an idea of what it can do. The thing about the demo is that rather than showing you a finished project, it just assembles a bunch of random clips, which really doesn’t tell me any more about the system or what I could do with it than the "drag a sound here" note tells me.

Anyway, you can pick you character(s), choose from a host of sounds and then assemble everything together in any way you wish. It’s good fun! Unfortunately, some sounds are louder or softer than others, so there’s only so much you can do in an edit. It’d be more fun if they’d list the characters in alphabetical order, but such is life. Also, once you select a character, you need to go back to the top of the page and click the character’s name or the right facing triangle to select a different character. (NOT where is says "[CHARACTER NAME] Soundboard.")

Anyway, here’s my Star Wars mix – it’s a conversation between Princess Leia and Darth Vader.
