About Selfies

In today’s post, I promise you Star Wars! I promise you smack talk about members of Congress! And most of all, I promise you a discussion the newest word in the dictionary, selfie.

Yes it’s come to that point; the point in the history of civilization where we need a word to describe the act of photographing oneself with a mobile device. How did this happen? Perhaps it came about because a member of Congress decided that they needed to photograph their genitals and send it out on the Internet. Who knows why it really happened, but it did – and now, we all have to live with it.

I have to say that I don’t think this is a good development. While the reality of selfies is something that cannot be avoided, we probably did not need to glorify the practice by including the word in our most sacred of the word institutions, where future generations and future civilizations (and space aliens) will see that we all came together as a society and decided this was worthy of record.

In other news, I found my kickass Star Wars:  Return of the Jedi t-shirt!  How awesome is this? Here is a selfie of me in my shirt.
