"Tell 'em Large Marge sent ya!" or Phantom 309 (movies/music)

Unless you’re significantly older or younger than me (in which case you’re not cool – sorry), you’ve seen Pee Wee’s Big Adventure (which is probably Tim Burton’s finest movie – in spite of Tim Burton, I would argue), and if you’ve seen that flick, you’ll certainly remember the Large Marge seen. Here’s a refresher:

Now here’s the kicker – that story sure does sound a lot like the story in this old song. Check this out!

I’d never heard this song, "Phantom 309," until today. It was written by Tommy Faile and was released by Red Sovine in 1967, and I’ve never heard of those dudes, but once I stumbled upon the song, I couldn’t help but make the connection. Maybe one of the screenplay writers (Michael Varhol, Paul Reubens, Phil Hartman) were fans… who knows.

Or maybe it was Burton’s idea because he desperately needed to get some stop motion animation into the flick for no reason. Sounds like Burton to me!
