Jeb Bush is Running for President in 2016 [Prediction]

The Bush Family is going for another sequel and historically, the 3rd film in the franchise is usually weak compared to the first two, but you never know until you get in the theater and watch it.  Look at Revenge of the Sith – that… that was better than Attack of the Clones.  Anyway, Jeb Bush participated in a question-and-answer session with reporters and editors by Bloomberg View. I have no idea why he’d do something like this at this point, but he did.  Oh wait, yes I do – because he thinks Mitt Romney is going to lose this fall and he’s going to run in 2016.

As you can see from his quotes, he hit all the right beats.  He talked about people being crazy and pointed out that he is not crazy.

“Ronald Reagan would have, based on his record of finding accommodation, finding some degree of common ground, similar to my dad, they would have had a hard time if you define the Republican Party — and I don’t — as having an orthodoxy that doesn’t allow for disagreement.”

“Back to my dad’s time or Ronald Reagan’s time,” he said, “they got a lot of stuff done with a lot of bipartisan support that right now would be difficult to imagine happening.”

He talked about wealth inequality and how even his dad, who didn’t want to raise taxes, ended up raising taxes because it was the right thing to do at the time.  He also spoke about Hispanic immigration as another thing that the Republicans need to change their approach toward – because he knows which way the wind is blowing now and he’s forecasting for 2016.

He took a shot at Obama’s economic policy, but at the same time, said “I think we’re in a period here for the next year of pretty slow growth; I don’t see how we get out, notwithstanding who’s president.  We’ve got major headwinds with Europe and a slow down for Asia as well.”

I think this is his way of saying, “Look, we’re not far enough away from my brother’s two term fiasco, I’m not sure if I can beat Obama and I don’t want to be president now anyway.  It sucks right now.  Also, Romney is an idiot for trying to spin the blame for the worst economic climate in nearly 100 years on one guy – namely, Obama.”

So there it is.  You heard it here first.  It’s going to be a Jeb Bush vs. Chris Christie primary in 2016.
