“Can’t Fight This Feeling” by REO Speedwagon (What the hell is this song about anyway?)

I’ve tried to unravel a fair share of song lyrics in my time, but now, I’m upping the ante and doing my best to decipher music videos.  This time, I’m taking a look at “Can’t Fight This Feeling” by REO Speedwagon and… well, I may have bit off more than I can chew, because this video is baffling.

I’ve been doing the “What the hell is this song about anyway?” feature for a while, but now seemed like the time for it to jump from the written form to a video series.  Right now, it feels like I’ll be staying with 1980s music videos, but who knows what the future will hold?  Certainly not me.  If you’d like to check out more of our videos, visit our YouTube Channel! Turn (AMC series) mixed with “Turn! Turn! Turn!” by The Byrds

AMC has a new show out called Turn; it’s about American Colonial spies during the Revolutionary War against the British.  I decided the trailer would mix well with “Turn! Turn! Turn!,” which was written by Pete Seeger, but I’m using The Byrds version here.  The only things I edited was the start sync with the video and music as well as rocking that “AMC something more” title card back and forth until I got a sync-out with the music that I liked.

Will Reading – a movie in production by CreativeJamie.com

will-reading-the-movieI’ve been doing movie reviews for a long while, but now, I’m going to put my money where my mouth is (sorta literally) by writing and directing (and, perhaps unwisely, co-starring) in my first feature-length video, Will Reading.  I thought it might be fun to keep a movie production diary now that things are getting started.  Here’s where we are so far.

1st draft is completed (3/19/14)
There’s no movie without a script, and now, after writing on and off for six months or so, the first draft of the script is complete.  Now that I have a feel for the story and the characters, I’ll use the second draft to straighten things out, tighten the bolts on what’s there and add anything that’s missing.  This will most likely only take a week or two.  Then, I’ll print it out and ask for help from Dr. Girlfriend on the third draft…

contacted actor wish list (3/21/14 – 3/24/14)
I have very specific ideas for the performances I’d like to see in each of the roles, so I, in some ways, wrote the story for actors I know.  Hopefully, these folks will be available to/interested in working on this!

one actor signs on  (3/24/14)
So far, I’ve received confirmation from one of the four actors on my list, so… yeah, 25% done here!

ordered the new camera (3/24/14)
I have a camera, and I’ve been amassing equipment for years with the idea of making a feature in mind, but now that it’s actually happening, I’m finally upgrading to a pro camera.  I’ll have to sell a kidney, but that’s life.

That’s about all for now!

Dancing Batman! and other things

If you’re a regular visitor of CreativeJamie.com, then you’re probably tired of us constantly putting I’m Married to Batman! in your face.  Well, we’re sorry about that.  We have other ideas, we swear!  But first, we did promise you Dancing Batman, so let’s get that out-of-the-way after the jump.  Read the rest of this entry

If Lord of the Rings isn't just fantasy to you, then I guess this post is for you

This Christopher Valentine character’s video, "Elves – Learn how to Attract Real Elves to You!" has garnered over 144,000 hits and he seems to be serious about getting Legolas to come hang out in your backyard.

Now I like Orlando Bloom as much as the next guy – what can I say, the dude is pretty. Anyway, Christopher Valentine’s website, Myst of the Oracle (I would have called it "Mystery of the Oracle" because it sounds way cooler), features all sorts of… I dunno, stuff. For Example, it makes mention of Dr. Christian von Lahr conducting the first Michael Jackson interview 48 hours after "crossing-over," which I assume is charlatan speak for dying, so it’s not just "fairy tale creatures are real" with these folks. It’s like a channeling Elvis while riding a dragon sort of thing. I love the list of celebrity endorsements:

  • John Gray, best-selling author of "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus"
  • Gary Zukav, the best-selling author of "Seat of the Soul."
  • Dr. Michael Beckwith, best-selling co-author of the book and video "The Secret"
  • and Larry King.

I thought I was detecting a theme, but then… Larry King. Didn’t see that coming. I bet Dr. von Lahr did, though.

As far as I’m concerned, YouTube is the real magical place, where things like this can grow and thrive right next to .

Mini Bars are Useless

image

Just read this mini bar menu and reflect at how it’s priced so I buy nothing. $4.25 for a can of soda is obscene. Look how much a liter of water is. LOOK.  These are the sort of mark ups that would make a bartender blush.
A note to all business majors out there:  you make zero profit on every item you don’t sell. Get that tattooed on the insides of your eyelids, get into hospitality management and fix this!

Dogs vs (toy) Batman [video]

Sometimes the dogs get a toy and beat the crap out of it together – the toy never stood a chance.  In this case, it was tough to watch Batman get torn apart, but that’s life, I guess.

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters (movie review)

percy-jackson-sea-of-monsters

*This review probably contains spoilers. But be real – you don’t care. You’re not going to see this movie unless you already read the book and are a fan, in which case you already know what happens and are thus unaffected by spoilers. Anyway, you’ve been warned.

In an effort to make the title sound less like a Harry Potter story, this latest installment of the series is entitled Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters – as you can see, they have cleverly removed the ‘and the’ from the center of the title. Other things that don’t appear in this movie include surprises, wit and a sea of monsters – see how I italicized the S? That was intentional. Read the rest of this entry

The Simpsons Monorail Song meets the Walt Disney World’s Monorail System [video]

If you like the CreativeJamie.com Facebook page, then you already know it’s Disney Week here at the site and you might have even already seen the video above, but it’s short, so… maybe give it another gander?

As soon as Dr. Girlfriend revealed that we were staying at the Contemporary Resort, I began hatching plans for this video.  “Marge vs the Monorail” is one of my favorite episodes of The Simpsons, and this seemed like a perfect opportunity for me to bring two things I love together.

And seriously, how awesome is the Walt Disney World monorail?  40 MPH and no traffic lights – it’s a highway in the sky!  It’s one of the best things ever.

TECHNICAL NOTES:
This was filmed using a Samsung Infuse 4G and edited in Adobe Premiere CS 5.5.  Initially, I let YouTube do their anti shake/stabilize tool thing to the video, but it looked terrible, so I have hopefully disabled that now.

Iron Man 3 movie review – Mixers and Movie Reviews ep 3

After our first two episodes, I suddenly had a desire to mix it up and bring you a fully scripted skit that tells the story of what happens when two people disagree on a movie and things get out of hand.  Why?  Why not, I guess.  I imagine everyone is going to see Iron Man 3 anyway, and I get the feeling that it’s not going to be the sort of film that merits a lot of discussion, so whatever – I decided we should just punch each other instead of talking. Green Screen Scene coming soon!

image

Green Screen Scene is a new movie review show that will premier in June (ish).  I hate to tease anything that far off, but it’s about as definite as anything I have planned for the future and the set is ready and the first script is finished as well as a second episode planned, so I thought I’d let the cat out of the bag…  Because seriously, who keeps cats in bags?  Not me…  So join me for Green Screen Scene this June!
